Lagos Day 2

I slept so soundly — slept without waking in the night! But woke late, and had just time to dress & drink a coffee before our kayak tour.

Kayak Tour

Our guide took this photo of us.

At first, I was sure we would crash into rocks. But even when we did, it was easy to push off and right ourselves again. This was my favorite day of all! It was magical to be paddling into these caves and looking up at the sky peeking through the portal. After we were finished with the kayaking, we all jumped off the boat and swam in the water. Truly an amazing experience.

This was my favorite moment

Inside the caves felt magical! It was totally safe but I could see how it could start to get tricky as more tours started to arrive — it would be crowded later!

Of course we jumped off the boat after kayaking. The water was very cold!!!

Here’s a reel of the kayaking on instagram.

Now what?

We are doing some laundry and regrouping. It is going to be a hot day, so planning our day to avoid full sun in the heat of the day. There is a museum here, and a trail that we may check out!

Lunch

Lunch was Tapas at Taberna da mó. We shared: Salada de Bacalhau, Salada de Polvo, Quejjo chevre c/ abóbora e amêndoa. And finished with two espressos and a Mousse de chocolate da Mó.

Museu de Lagos Dr. José Formosinho

This was a nice post lunch activity. This is a multidisciplinary museum which includes archaeology, sacred art, History of Lagos, ethnography of the Algarve, painting, mineralogy and more. This museum also comprises the Church of Santo António whose interior is an authentic jewel of Baroque gilded carving in Portugal.

Ponta da Piedade

We went to Ponta da Piedade for the sunset tonight.

Up next

Tomorrow we head to Tavira.
