When we arrived to Portugal in November 2024, we found one knife in the utensil drawer of the apartment we were renting. Seeing our landlord chopping onions and garlic with an identical, though slightly more worn, version of the knife we came to affectionately refer to it as The Portuguese Knife (A Faca Portuguesa). We were sad to leave the one behind when we moved, so we asked her where to buy one, and not surprisingly you can get one in virtually every store. We own two now.

Another thing we learned from our landlord was to always submerge your lettuce. This will make sure the snails come out the lettuce. You say ewwww, I say organic.

Beach Walk
Here’s a 💎 highlight reel of the beach between Praia de Altura and Praia do Cabeço. And we could have kept walking all the way to Spain. We saw so many interesting things on the beach this morning. Not sure what they are all, especially the one that looks like a rice crispy treat!

Flamingos
Walking in the salt pans is one of our favorite things, and we were lucky enough to see the flamingo flying from one pan to another. I don’t believe I have seen flamingo fly before — it was majestic.
