Spain In December

We took the short 2 hour bus ride from Tavira to Seville for a weekend in Spain.

Seville

The hotel was an attraction itself. Hotel Las Casas de La Judería, located the old Jewish quarter, is built of 27 houses and two palaces. It has 134 rooms which are interconnected by patios & gardens. To get to our room, we take an underground tunnel. It is said that over the centuries, Christopher Columbus, The Duke of Bejar and The Count of Villamanrique have all stayed here. Here are some pictures and a video of the underground tunnel leading to our room.

But first tapas. Arriving to Seville on midday on a Friday, we grabbed a quick bite at El Pasaje Santa María la Blanca just steps away from the hotel. Then we started by wandering around the city to get oriented. Later, we had dinner with friends at El Pan Nuestro Restaurante and then strolled around looking at Christmas lights. We couldn’t stay out too late because we were headed to Caminito del Rey early the next day (more on this later).

On Sunday, we got to see Real Alcázar de Seville, Plaza de España, and the Catedral de Sevilla.

Real Alcázar de Seville

Real Alcázar de Seville. In the 10th century, it was the location of the Islamic-era citadel of the city. The details here are just amazing. The palace is adorned with majolica and arista tiles. The gardens are vast. For 14€, there is a lot to see.

Plaza de España

Plaza de España inside Parque de María Luisa. Seville, Spain. Here, we found alcoves that represent different regions of Spain.

Catedral de Sevilla

We visited the cathedral on a Sunday, so we could only visit the public area.

Caminito del Rey

Caminito del Rey is situated in the centre of the province of Málaga. The following is an excerpt from the official website. The Caminito del Rey is an aerial trail built in the walls of the Gaitanes gorge. The trail begins in the municipality of Ardales, goes through Antequera , and ends in El Chorro (Álora).

Was a bit uncertain about this trek as it definitely is outside my comfort zone. The entire passage felt safe to me. It is a very beautiful walk, take a look at my compilation video.

If you want to do this walk, book your tickets here. And remember to arrive 1 hour before your entrance ticket so you have time to park, shuttle, and walk to the entry.
